PRESS RELEASE Campaign of Suzan Franks for State Senate is Officially on the Ballot The Suzan Franks Campaign is pleased to announce the completion of all paper work to officially be on the 2008 ballot. Suzan, and campaign volunteers, collected over 3000 petition cards from Democrats, Republicans and Independents, with nearly 1/3 being signed by registered Republicans in order become a candidate for the Florida Senate. During this process Suzan has talked to thousands of voters and heard one very consistent message, ‘Florida can’t afford more of what we have had!’ On the other hand, Mr. Dean spent over 30,000 dollars to mail petition cards, only to Republicans, just so he could claim the same grass-roots support Suzan truly has. As gas prices rise, insurance companies leave the state and our education system is now 50th in the nation, Mr. Dean and the state legislature does nothing to actually solve the real problems facing Florida. We do not have time to wait around for the people in office to realize and respond creatively to what Floridians need. Suzan is willing, ready and able to fight for people and not corporate interest. We need elected officials who listen to and understand the people of Florida, not just the corporations and their lobbyist in Tallahassee. The problems we face today cannot wait 5 or 10 years to be solved; we need a leader who has legislative experience and a proven record of results. Suzan has such a record; she will make changes that benefit the working people and families of District 3, and all of Florida. When she was in the New Hampshire legislature for 8 years she made public kindergarten available to all children, and in the process brought New Hampshire from last in the nation in education rankings to 38th when she left. Suzan can do the same for Florida and according to her, ‘I am running because I feel I must. With so many problems facing all of us today, we absolutely need someone who can go to Tallahassee and show responsible, innovative and results oriented leadership on the issues which matter most.’ Energy prices are skyrocketing, which increases the price of nearly every other good and service we use. We need to begin solving this problem right here and NOW in Florida. The technology is already available to make Florida more energy independent than any other state in the nation. We no longer have the luxury of waiting around for the US Congress to do something, we can do it right here in District 3, and all across Florida.
